Our Story

Peninsula Hanaro Korean School was established in August 2004 to teach Korean language, culture, history, and a variety of Korean traditions. Our school is primarily geared for Korean Americans, but it is open to anyone who is interested in the Korean culture in the Peninsula area. With 40-50 students ranging in age from kindergarten to adult, it is the largest and only non-church affiliated Korean school in the Peninsula area.

SCHOOL SCHEDULE
Our school year is from September to May and is divided into Fall and Spring semesters. Classes are held on Saturdays (except holidays) from 9:30am to 12:20pm.

TUITION
$170 per student per semester (Fall/Spring)
(Family discount: $160 for second child; $110 for third child; $10 for fourth+ child)
*Tuition includes $10 activity fee per child per semester
No refunds are issued after semester begins.

OUR FOCUS
  1. Developing a positive self-esteem as a Korean American through the cooperative efforts of learning Korean language, history, and culture.
  2. Offering a well-rounded education by providing enrichment classes such as Origami, Calligraphy, Korean Traditional Games, Drawing, and Drama.
  3. Strengthening students by actively involving them in the main stream of society by sharing Korean virtues and culture through community outreach cultural events.

OUR SUPPORTERS

Financial Support

Funding requirement for running Hanaro Korean School are provided by tuitions paid by students and donations received from board members, organizations, and individuals.

Board of Directors - Peninsula Hanaro Korean School has an active board of directors. They provide the school with educational, social, and community wide fundraising activities all year round. They are also involved in assisting students and teachers in and out of the classroom as unpaid volunteers. They help establish educational policies; deliberate on the budget and secure the financial resources to run the school; and provide various fundraising events.

Teacher's Assistants

Adult and High school student volunteers work closely with teachers to enhance and/or provide individual instruction and supervision. Student volunteers earn community service credits toward their high school volunteer requirements. Currently we are blessed with over 13 Assistant High School Teachers, they liven up the school and energize the students.

We would love to have you be a part of our team of volunteers. If you have special skills and/or talents you would like to share, please send us an application along with your resume.

DONATE
If you would like to make a donation to help support our school, all amounts are welcome and helpful. Your gift will be used towards school operating costs, equipment/supplies, and special events for the students, as well as scholarships for student volunteers.
